Monthly Makeup Commitment: November 2018

I honestly cannot believe it is November already! Thanksgiving is just around the corner, then Christmas, then it will be 2019! OMG. It feels like just yesterday that I was writing my New Years Resolution for 2018. And now…it’s time to copy and paste my resolutions for 2019 LOL.

Anyways, I am back with my Monthly Makeup Commitment for November. This purpose of this post is basically to limit myself to using these products and these products only for the entire month. This will hopefully 🤞🏻 prevent me from buying more makeup. And despite the Sephora VIB sale, I did not buy any makeup from Sephora…I bought makeup from Walmart. 🙃

LET’S BEGIN! I will start in order of how I do my makeup!

Because November is a bit chilly here in Houston, I am going to skip over primer. The only primer I have in my collection is the pore filling primer and I want to keep the moisture on my face as much as possible so I am just going into concealer after skincare.

I will continue to use my Glossier Stretch Concealer in Light.

Glossier Stretch Concealer in Light

I am actually proud of myself because I made quite the dent in this product since last month. I have been using it every day and it honestly is a great concealer to just throw on to give a very natural look to the face. Even though I work from home, I still have to show my face to my students (I am a VIPKID teacher – I plan to do a blog post regarding my VIPKID teacher journey so stay tuned if you’re interested). So I just quickly apply this concealer very early in the morning and I look somewhat put together.

One thing I have noticed with this concealer though is that when I used my pore blurring primer, it sort of sat funny on my face. It sank into my smile lines and around the crevices around my eyes and nose so I think this product goes better on the bare skin. You also have to pat it in pretty well.

To set my concealer I will use my one and only powder, Rimmel Stay Matte.

Rimmel Stay Matte

Since this is a very mattifying powder, I will be very sparing with this product. Like I said, I want to keep the moisture on my face as much as possible. I will just sweep my brush once and use that to set the concealer under my eyes and the rest of my face without re-dipping my brush into the powder.

Then I move onto bronzer. I will be using my too cool for school art class by Rodin bronzer. I am so sad. Like literally my soul cried out. I dropped the compact and it literally shattered out of the pan. So I gathered the crushed powder and tried to sort of mush it back together with my toner. It looks disastrous and gross and it looks I completely ruined it (which I probably did) but it honestly works fine. I just have to be careful not to drop this again.

This has such a nice undertone. It is not too orange or grey. It is perfect for yellow undertones and is the perfect color to contour and just shade around the face. This is called the “National shading product” in Korea. It is really easy to use because it has three shades in the pan. It has a very light shade, a medium cool tone shade, and a deeper warm shade. When mixed it becomes a really nice neutral brown shade. I usually just swirled my brush to all the shades anyway so its fine that I broke it…is what I try to tell myself…😭

Next is blush! My favorite! This month I will be using my Clinique Cheek pop in Sorbet pop.

Clinique Cheek pop in Sorbet Pop

This is the shade that is I believe only available in Korea(?) or in Asia(?) not sure. Four new shades were released in Korea that was suited for Korean skin tones. The four shades were also in collaboration with four Korean beauty YouTubers and this was one of the shade. Sorbet pop was in collaboration with Sunny from Sunny Channel on YouTube. I love Sunny and when I saw this shade, I wanted it right away. I bought it off of eBay from a seller in Korea and I absolutely love it.

It is a very pastel orangey-coral shade that just brightens up the face. Now, if I wear this color during the summer when I am more tan, it will probably not show up on my face. But when I am paler in the wintertime, it translates into a beautiful light coral shade. I love it.

For my highlight, I will be using the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Champagne pop.

This is a gorgeous golden champagne color that was created with Jaclyn Hill. I have loved this thing forever. The formula of this product is so fine that it does not emphasize my texture at all. It just gives a gorgeous sheen to the cheekbones and the color suits my skin tone very well. I love this highlighter. I think this is my favorite out of all my highlighters in my collection.

Swatches on my arm in natural light:

Now moving onto my eyes. Let’s start with eyebrows, shall we?

I think my Glossier Boy Brow has given up on me. It no longer works as it once did and kind of just clumps up and it is quite hard to get the product out. I mean I’ve been using it faithfully every day for about 5 months so I guess its about time it runs out.

So I bought new eyebrow products from Walmart. I was watching this Korean beauty YouTuber that I recently found Jo Hyojin, 조효진님. She is so funny and I just fell in love with her personality that I was immediately hooked. She did one video that was sponsored by Kiss Me.

Kiss Me is a Japanese brand that is really popular in Asia and they are quite known for their mascara and eyebrow products. I really wanted to try their mascara for a long time but I didn’t want to buy it unless I used up my current mascara. So naturally, I just bought the three eyebrow products that she recommended in her video. These are the products that I purchased from Walmart. I was pretty surprised that Walmart carried these…although I had to order it online.

The first one is the Kiss Me Heavy Rotation Powder Eyebrow & 3D Nose in #03 Ash Brown.

This was the shade that Hyojin used to fill in her eyebrows and contour her nose with. IT LOOKED SO NATURAL AND SO GOOD I just HAD to buy it. The colors are not too pigmented when I swatched it but I think that is good because you don’t want it to be too strong of a color when you apply it to your brows. It can definitely be built up when you apply more but I really love how natural it makes my brows look. I love how the shade also has a bit of an ashy/shadow color because it really mimics the color of the shadow around the nose.

The next product that she recommended was the Kiss Me Heavy Rotation Gel Eyebrow Liner. I got mine in the shade #01 Natural Brown.

This is the product that I was most excited for. She explained in her video that this product is too good to be only used for the brow. Because of how it glides on so smoothly onto the skin, she used it also to line her eyes. And this product is super long lasting. Like I tried wiping it off with a wet paper towel and it did not budge AT ALL. I had to remove it with a makeup remover. And this was a few minutes right after I swatched it. This is an incredible product. I highly recommend this if you are looking for a long lasting brow product.

The last brow product that she highly raved about a LOT in her channel is the Kiss Me Heavy Rotation Coloring Eyebrow. I got mine in the shade #04 Natural Brown.

She said that this was her favorite browcara ever and the product that she always goes back to. These browcara products are used to basically coat and change the brow hair colors so that it looks more natural. It is also used to set the brow product in place for a prolonged wear.

And now onwards to eyeshadow! This month I will be using my favorite eyeshadow palette in my collection: The Jaclyn Hill Palette from Morphe.

It is so beautiful. Sometimes, whenever I feel the urge to buy eyeshadows, I pop this bad boy out and I just stare at it. And then, all my urges to buy more eyeshadows disappears because to me this is all I need. It has all the neutral shades that I ever need and some other shades that I don’t think I need but I need. Ya know?

I love using this palette. All the colors are super pigmented and they blend beautifully. I have swatched all the colors but because I am #basic I tend to gravitate towards the neutral shades. I want to play more with the warm red shades and the deeper copper tones and the purple and the blue shades but I’m scared. Hee Hee 😬

And to finish off my eyes, I will be using my Kat Von D Tattoo liner in Mad Max Brown and L’Oreal Lash Paradise Mascara.

Kat Von D Tatoo liner and L’Oreal Lash Paradise

Nothing to be said here. These two products are a staple in my makeup collection.

Swatches on my arm in natural light:

The Jaclyn Hill Palette (the shades that I use the most)

And now onto the Lips 👄!!

I will be rotating between four products this month. It’s actually just three lip looks since I am pairing the first two products together.

I will be using the Colorgram Thunderbolt Lip Lacquer in #6 Chili Bolt with MAC Chili. These two give such a gorgeous bold look to the lips and I love wearing these two with a very simple eye look.

Colorgram #6 Chili Bolt and MAC Chili

I have done a whole review on the Colorgram tints that you can read here. And this tint has a brick orange base to it that suits really well with the warm red-brown Chili color.

I will also be using the Colourpop Lippie Stix in Aquarius.

Colourpop Lippie Stix in Aquarius

This will be the nude option for whenever I want to go that all natural, soft look. This is a beautiful pink beige that leans pretty beige on my lips. It is a light version of an MLBB shade on me. The formula of this Lippie Stix is a creme finish so it is quite moisturizing though it does not last too long.

The fourth lip product that I will be wearing this month is actually the color that I have been wearing for most of this month. It is the Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lipcolor in Devotion.

Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lipcolor in Devotion

This is the perfect MLBB color for my skin tone and is really pretty close to my actual lip color except this color has a bit more rosy tone to it that really brightens up my face. I have been really enjoying this lip product. It is matte as it advertises but it is super comfortable to wear and is pretty moisturizing too (for a matte).

It has a lovely velvety texture that reminds me a lot of the Peripera Ink the Velvet. But this product is not a tint so it doesn’t stain your lips and is quite easy to remove. It also lasts a while on my lips. It is not transfer-proof and will leave residue behind when you drink from a cup but I love the color so much I don’t mind re-applying. I definitely recommend this color!

Swatches on my arm in natural light:

So this is it for my Monthly Makeup Commitment post for November 2018. I can’t wait until December…I have an inkling that it might snow again here in Houston. 🤞🏻😆

Thank you so much for reading this long post if you got this far. And definitely let me know if you have tried any of these products and how you feel about them. I’d love to know!

Here is a video accompaniment to this post. It is not a tutorial…more like how I use these products heehee.

Massive Recent (?) Haul: first half of 2018

Hello everyone!

I have been meaning to post this massive haul for a while because I have accumulated a lot of stuff since January (even though I said I was not going to buy any more makeup haha… RIP My Bank Account)

Since most of these products were hauls from earlier this year, I have used them quite thoroughly and some I even finished…with that said, I do have some sort of a review/opinions on them.

OK. Let’s get started…its going to be a long post..

Also..because I bought these products at different times, the photos may not have the same background or the same filter..hope you don’t mind.

The first item that I am very proud to share with you is my vlogging camera! This was a huge purchase for me this year. I have been meaning to purchase a vlogging camera because I wanted to commit to vlogging this year. I wanted to make this year memorable and I am pretty surprised that I did actually vlog everyday so far (haven’t uploaded all of them but…)

I got the Canon G7X Mark II because this is the most popular camera that a lot of vloggers use. I like how it is so compact and easy to carry around. This was the only camera we took to our Canada trip and it was all we needed. This with our iPhone X camera = easy photos.

This camera makes vlogging so much easier and I like how it has the flip screen so that you can actually see yourself while vlogging. I haven’t played around with any of the features yet but I really like the auto-stabilizing feature.

I just wish I can vlog myself doing something fun rather than just being a hobo at home lol.

Another purchase that is not beauty or skincare related is the 방탄소년단 or BTS’s albums. I made the purchase around the time I was submitting the primary applications for medical schools (around May). I had just spent around $2000 on the primary applications and was feeling pretty depressed.

I saw that the BTS Love Yourself Tear album was on sale at Target and was debating on purchasing it. I became a fan of BTS through my ex-roomie Joanne lol…

I told my mom that I was feeling depressed that I was spending so much money on med school apps and she comforted me and told me that she will buy me the album haha I don’t know what led her to make this decision but I was all for it heehee

So we went to Target. And I came back home with not only the Tear album but also the Her album.

Yeah. LOL. No ragrats.

Alright! Let’s now start with skincare products!

I was very curious to try out the Skinfood Rice Mask Wash Off. I read various reviews on this product and it is suppose to gently exfoliate the skin as well as brighten the skin tone.

I actually really like this mask. The scent is a bit perfumy but it doesn’t smell too bad. It has small rice granules but it doesn’t hurt when you rub the product onto the face. It isn’t the hard uncooked rice granules but it feels like the rice granules that were soaked in water because it is a bit more squishy.

I am not quite sure if it exfoliates my face or brighten my complexion but it does leave my face feeling soft. I will use this product whenever I take a bath and my mom also wanted one for her bathroom so I actually purchased another one. And while I purchased a second one, I also got the Skinfood Strawberry Wash Off Mask as well. My brother wanted a mask that will really exfoliate his face because he has a lot of black heads and the review for this product was really good so I bought it.

The strawberry wash off mask smells divine. It smells like strawberry jam and it has the strawberry seeds in the product that acts as an exfoliant. It does feel much rougher than the rice off mask but not as rough as that apricot scrub thingy. It also contains sugar granules that will also aid in exfoliating.

My brother really likes this mask but he said it doesn’t help too much with his black heads. I will use this probably once a month because it does feel too rough for my skin. I’d much rather use the rice one instead.

The next two items I purchased from Sokoglam.

Above is the cute sample bag with the Neogen Cleansing water sample that I have yet to try.

I purchased the KLAVUU Pure Pearlsation Revitalizing Facial Cleansing Foam and I freaking love this product.

It was a bit expensive because I think it was around $30? However, a little will go a very long way with this product. Literally a pea sized amount is all you need for a very thick lather. It lathers really nicely and feels so velvety soft when you rub it into the face.

What I love about this product is that it does not dry out my face. I never liked using foam cleansers because I hated how it left my face all tight and dry. This cleanser does not leave my face tight! I use it after I remove my makeup with a makeup remover and I love how my face feels afterwards. I highly recommend this product!

Another product I got from Sokoglam is the Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin Drop. This product is one of the bestsellers from Klairs and so I have been wanting to try it for a while.

I honestly do not like this product. I have not noticed anything while using this product. Like it was said to reduce sunspots and brighten the skin, but whenever I applied the product, my face felt kinda hot. It also felt too greasy for my oily face and I just didn’t like using it. Also, I am not sure if it’s just me but the product seemed to turn a bit yellow. And when I looked it up online, vitamin C will turn yellow after a while which means it has deactivated. Umm..yeah so I don’t know if I should keep using it or not since I have more than half the bottle left. Maybe I’ll use it for my body rather than my face. I’m kind of scared that it might break me out. Plus it smells kind of metally or like….coppery…yeah…

Anyways…moving on to the next product.

I ran out of my eyecream and so I got the Clinique Pep-Start Eye Cream. I use this product in the morning after toner and I am not quite sure if it does anything to be honest..

It is not a bad product. It has a gel like consistency and actually absorbs into the skin pretty nicely. I just don’t notice anything with this product. I probably will not repurchase this product.

The next two products are from I have talked about this website before in a blog post and it is the main website where I purchase Korean Beauty and Skincare products.

I got The Face Shop The Therapy Serum Infused Oil Cleanser and The Face Shop The Therapy First Serum.

I have wanted to try oil cleansers for a while because I hated rubbing my face with cotton pads or makeup wipes. My face became pretty sensitive these days and I wanted a more gentle cleanser that will remove my makeup.

I HATE this oil cleanser. This stings my eyes so badly and it does not remove my mascara AT ALL. I wear waterproof mascara and though it claims that it removes waterproof makeup, it does not. It also tastes super chemically and I feel disgusting whenever I use this.

The First serum was known quite famously as the serum that Suzy from Miss A uses or advertised. And I think the product is ok for what it is. It is a serum but I mostly used it as a toner/essence. I would put this serum on right after cleansing my face and it hydrated my face pretty well. It had a flowery scent but it wasn’t too strong and it did not sting my face at all. It actually went on nicely and I loved how it had a pump. Much more hygienic. I actually finished this product a few weeks ago and to be honest, I don’t really miss it.

It did leave my face hydrated but I think it isn’t quite worth the price. I would rather spend a little more and get the Missha Time Revolution Essence instead because that was much more hydrating than this one. It also has a lot more product as well. I don’t know. I wasn’t disappointed with it but I also wasn’t blown away.

This sheet mask from Pure Nature was actually a gift from When you purchase items from the website, they will give you samples and sometimes generously give you a free sheet mask. This sheet mask was alright. It was hydrating and was very richly soaked in essence.

The next products were something that I have been eyeing for some time now on Sephora. It is the Drunk Elephant Night Bright Duo.

This is the mini duo travel size product of the T.L.C. Framboose Glycolic Night Serum and the Virgin Marula Luxury Facial Oil. I really like these products. I only use two pumps of each and it leaves my face feeling very hydrated and plump.

I did notice the texture on my face improving whenever I use the T.L.C. Framboose Glycolic Night Serum. I really want to get the full size but it is crazy expensive so I think once I use these little guys up, I will just repurchase them again. I don’t know. I mean if I am going to stick to these guys, then it makes sense to get the full size instead of purchasing the small ones each time since this duo wasn’t really cheap either. It was $28 for these mini duos…

I don’t know..I hate that I love these products so much…Haaa

Is there a dupe for these products? If there is please let me know.

The next product is actually a repurchase item. It is the Elta MD Broad Spectrum SPF 46 Facial Sunscreen. This is my favorite sunscreen because it is the only one that does not break me out.

It is quite pricey for the amount (I think around $32 for 48 g) but it is all worth it to me. It goes on like a moisturizer and so in the morning I will just wear this instead of wearing a moisturizer. It also contains niacinamide and zinc oxide, two ingredients known to reduce rosacea and hyperpigmentation, and it also reduces the likelihood of future breakouts. I highly recommend it for those of you with sensitive acne prone skin.

This next item is also a repurchase. I’m pretty sure I have gone through several bottles of these. I honestly was hoping to replace it with the oil cleanser but since that The Therapy oil cleanser did nothing for me I repurchased the Garnier Skin Active Micellar Cleansing Water that actually removes waterproof mascara.

I don’t have much to say about this product other than that it is very dependable because it does its job like it is supposed to (unlike that oil cleanser lol i’m salty)

I also got the Simple Micellar Make-Up Remover Wipes as well. This was alright. It wasn’t as wet as the Neutrogena ones but it got the job done. It removed my face makeup without stinging my face.

I don’t think I will repurchase these though. I like the Neutrogena ones better because they were more saturated with the makeup remover.

I wanted to try Krave Beauty products ever since they launched. But I decided to wait until their sunscreen came out and then place a big order. Krave Beauty is the skincare brand that uses mild products and is formulated to gently restore the skin on your face with mild ingredients. It is the brand that was created by Liah Yoo, a skincare guru on Youtube. I have been subscribed to her for a long time and I really respect her and the work she does.

She does amazing skincare videos with thorough research and I have learned a lot about various skincare products through her. She was the one who introduced me to the Elta MD Sunscreen!

So when she created her own brand of skincare I was all for it. I loved everything about it. The packaging, to the brand focus “Press Reset”, etc.

I knew she was formulating a sunscreen (because I follow her on Instagram) but unfortunately the sunscreen was not going to be available in the US due to FDA not approving one ingredient that is common in Korean sunscreens. And so unfortunately the sunscreen is only released in Korea, though I believe she is trying to get it released in the US, the process might take a while. So I just decided to purchase the two items that are available in the US.

The first is the Matcha Hemp Hydrating Cleanser. This is such a unique cleanser. It is a gel based cleanser but the substance is kind of jelly like.

It smells like matcha and I’m all for it because I love matcha. It does lather up but does not create foam, just a bit of bubbles. It feels soft and silky when I rub it onto my face and when I wash it off, it does seem hydrating. Like it doesn’t strip my face of all the oil and does not make my face feeling tight.

I carry this cleanser it my gym bag and I love using it in the morning after I work out. I definitely will repurchase this product again when I run out.

The next product from Krave Beauty is their KalelaluyAHA. This is an AHA toner that acts as a mild exfoliant.

I really like this toner. This product contains 5.25% AHA and when I first used this product, it did make my face a bit tingly. So I used it three times a week as it is suggested on the box and the tingly sensation didn’t occur anymore. It left my face feeling smooth and I did notice that my texture was reduced as well. I think this product with the Drunk Elephant Duo worked together to really improve my skin lately. I have been getting less texture and significantly less breakouts!

I will definitely repurchase this product when I run out. I highly recommend Krave Beauty and if you want more information on the two products, check out Liah Yoo on Youtube!

The last skincare item that I purchased recently is the Mamonde Calming Hydro Sleeping Mask. A few weeks ago, my dad’s friend from college visited our house. He is a cosmetic scientist in Korea and was on a business trip in Houston. He discussed what he does and also what he formulated. He was a freelancer and whenever a specific brand wanted to make something like a CC cream or facial cream, etc., they would contact him and his lab to formulate the product. He said that he created products for La Mer, it Cosmetics, Amore Pacific, etc. So cool!

Anyways, he said the skincare product that he recommends the most is a sleeping mask. Instead of a nighttime moisturizer, he said that a sleeping mask is much more hydrating much more beneficial to the skin. He said any sleeping mask will do but the one that is more gentle is the Mamonde one. He also had very nice skin and so I decided to trust him LOL i mean he is also an expert so…

I got this product from Ulta. I didn’t know Ulta carried Mamonde. Mamonde is a Korean brand and although I have known about it for a while, I wasn’t quite curious to try it until recently.

I got this product I believe two weeks ago and I have been using it every night since. I have noticed a drastic change in my skin. My skin in the morning was much more softer and much more hydrated than before I used it. I put on a thin layer and really pat it into the skin so that it absorbs completely before I go to bed. It doesn’t feel sticky and so sleeping with it is not a problem. I really like this product but I want to try other sleeping masks before committing. I want to try the Laneige one as well as the Glow Recipe Watermelon one.

So yeah that was a lot of skincare products. I also have two hair products that I purchased from Sephora a while back.

These are two Briogeo products. I got the travel sized Rosarco Milk Reparative Leave-In Conditioning Spray and the Curl Charisma Rice Amino + Avocado Leave-In Defining Creme. I really loved the scent of the Rosarco milk. It has such a nice, delicious, sweet scent and I kept on smelling it on my hair throughout the day. It left my hair feeling softer as well. I am thinking about purchasing the full size but I don’t know…I’m debating it.

I also really liked the curl cream. I got a perm in April and though it is sort of fading now, but when I use the cream, my curls are much more defined and more lively. I actually have already added this product to my cart. I’m just waiting until I use up the Briogeo gel from my 23rd Birthday Haul/Presents.

This next product are some essential oils that I got from Marshalls. The brand is called Aroma Aria and it comes with five different essential oils. I have been feeling really stressed ever since I finished the MCAT to the point where I could not sleep or eat properly.

I have been battling with insomnia for sometime but it had gotten to a point where I would wake up every 2 hours. I tried taking baths, melatonin, but none of it worked and so one of my friend recommended essential oils. Lavender oil is supposed to calm the mind and relax the body and so I picked these up from Marshall. This product comes in a roller ball applicator and so I just rolled it onto my wrists and behind my ears.

But unfortunately, my stress and anxiety was so bad, it did not work. I still had trouble staying asleep and so I had to go to my physician.

Anyways, with that said, these roller balls are still on my nightstand and I like putting them on before I go to sleep. The lavender scent does relax me and there are also different scents like tea tree and orange that is supposed to energize and brighten the mind etc.

It is also nice to carry around in my purse as a quick wake-me-up-scent kind of thing lol.

Now we move onto the makeup portion of my massive haul!

This is the Peripera Ink Skin Tint in #4 Peach Tone Up. I have spoken about this product in my Monthly Makeup Commitment: July 2018

This is a tone up cream which is supposed to brighten up the skin before putting on other base makeup. This also contains SPF and just like other SPF sunscreen product, I have noticed that this product breaks me out. This is super disappointing because I really like the velvety texture of this product. It is a watery texture that goes on very smoothly and is very blendable. It does lighten up my face a little and it also works great to lighten up dark foundations. I used this product as part of my July M.M.C and mixed it with my Clinique foundation because the color was a bit too dark on me. However, I decided to give my foundation to my mom because I finally decided that I just don’t like wearing foundation.

And so I don’t really know what to do with this product. I might try it again now that my skin has cleared up from previous breakouts but I’m kinda scared that it might break me out….what to do…

I picked up this Wet n Wild Contour Brush from HEB. This brush is very soft and was so cheap! I think it was on sale for 69 cents! I highly recommend this brush! I use it as a highlighting brush because the angle is just right to apply my highlighter with ease.

I will definitely be going to HEB to pick up more Wet n Wild brushes from now on.

So I have finally ran out of my EGLIPS Powder and have purchased this Rimmel Stay Matte Powder. This product was definitely on my list for a while but I didn’t want to purchase it until I finished the EGLIPS Powder.

I like this powder a lot. It is very matte and gets rid of that shine instantly. It also sets my concealer very well. I did notice that it did leave my skin looking a cracked and Sahara desert like when I put too much on. So I just swirl my brush a couple of times, tap off the extra and just pat it gently across my face to set the concealer. It then does not leave my face cakey but a bit semi-matte.

The next product is a mascara. This is the Covergirl Clump Crusher Mascara in Waterproof. I got this product because I had a coupon from CVS for $3 off of Covergirl product. So I think I got this mascara for like $3.

Unfortunately, this mascara gave me a stye infection. Literally the day after I used this mascara, my eye was all puffy and red. And so I threw this mascara away.

But it’s ok. I didn’t like this mascara anyways. It made my lashes all droopy. It was a waterproof mascara but it did not hold my curls at all. It also did not give my lashes volume at all either.

I also picked this Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lip Color from CVS. I had a coupon for $4 off of any Revlon so I got this product for like $5. I got the shade Devotion and the color is a muted coral pink which is right up my alley. It also has a rosy undertone which is gives a perfect MLBB vibe.

This would be a perfect lip shade to wear to work or to interviews, etc.

And because I didn’t have a mascara anymore, I decided to return to my favorite drugstore mascara, L’Oreal Voluminous Lash Paradise. This is the best drugstore mascara because not only does it add volume, it also holds up my lashes all day long.

I saw that they released a mascara primer/base and so I got that as well.

I love the mascara so much. It gives my lashes volume, makes them super black, and it also keeps my lashes curled. Cannot recommend this mascara enough.

The primer/base on the other hand, it is quite disappointing. It actually is too liquidy and heavy and so when I put it on my top lashes, it brings them down. It does not hold the curl at all. It smells kind of perfumy but the scent doesn’t bother the eyes at all which is good. I just wish it was a bit more light in texture so that my lashes don’t go down. Since it was still around $10, I am still going to use it for my lower lashes. I don’t usually put mascara on my lower lashes but honestly, I feel bad just wasting this product so….

I don’t recommend the primer/base if you have super straight an fine lashes.

I have never used a makeup setting spray before and I was always curious to try it. Jaclyn Hill raves about this Morphe Continuous Setting Mist for a good reason. This setting spray has such a beautiful spray nozzel. It is an aerosol spray like those Febreeze sprays and so it just spews the mist evenly across the face.

It does have a fragrance but it isn’t too strong and it doesn’t sting my eyes at all. I spray it all over my face after I finish my makeup and it really does make my cakey face all blended together into the skin. I was quite surprised how much I like this. I now understand the hype for setting sprays. This one is really great.

These next two products are the Clinique Cheek Pop in Ginger Pop and Sorbet Pop. I have been obsessed with these Clinique Cheek pops. I have been eyeing them for a while and I got an amazon gift card from answering a survey and so I went ahead and decided to get Ginger pop for around $19 on Amazon. This color was the first cheek pop that I got and I fell in love. The color is a nude coral color with a rosy undertone. It is a powder blush but it somehow melts into the skin beautifully and blends out really well.

This blush however is no longer in my collection because I gave it to my mom. She came into my room and nonchalantly told me that she ran out of blush so  I gave this to her. She really loves the undertone of this blush and it suits her really nicely. My mom has a slightly deeper skin tone than me and it looks really natural on her.

In early July, Clinique Korea released four new shades to their cheek pop line. They collaborated with four Korean Beauty Youtubers to make these shades that best fit the Korean market. When I saw that they were only releasing to Korea I was heartbroken. I searched high and low and found a seller on Ebay and purchased Sorbet Pop which was this gorgeous pastel orange peach shade that was in collaboration with Sunny from Sunny Channel on Youtube.

I love watching Sunny and she does amazing cover makeup tutorials. She is so talented and I was so excited that she did this collab.

Being the blush hoarder that I am, I wanted to get all four new shades but I held myself back and just purchased sorbet pop. I was kind of afraid that this blush would not show up on my face since I got a bit tan during the summer but surprisingly, I’m not tan enough because it still shows up. It is such a gorgeous shade. I love wearing it by itself as well as pairing with Melon pop.

I’m gonna collect these blushes now. ok. I’m sorry bank account.

Like I said earlier, I gave my mom my Clinique foundation. I’ve been actually foundation-free for a while but still kept the Clinique foundation just in case. But I came to the conclusion that I do not like wearing foundation so I just gave it to my mom (also because she came into my room and nonchalantly told me she ran out of foundation).

So I got this NARS Soft Matte Complete Concealer in Vanilla. I remember Kathleenlights really raving about this concealer and how it is full coverage but gives a matte flawless, smooth look. I have been using the Glossier stretch concealer but that concealer is more on the dewy, light weight while this concealer is more matte.

The texture of this concealer is definitely more thick than that of Glossier but it is super blendable. It also leaves the skin matte and soft, just like it claims. It gives the skin a velvety texture and I really like it. It also feels like I’ve set the concealer with powder and it also is very long lasting. I used it on Sunday and I was running errands out but it still managed to stay on my face nicely.

I’m excited about this purchase and I think it was worth the splurge because I see myself reaching for this whenever I want a more full coverage concealer.

The last product was more of an impulse buy. It is the Kat Von D Tattoo liner in Mad Max Brown. I have been watching Serim’s Life or 샒의삶 on Youtube and she has been uploading vlogs from her Europe trip. She purchased this product in Sephora and she talked about how long lasting it was.

This liner is really long lasting although it isn’t a waterproof liner. I’m pretty surprised because it is sweatproof. I have been sweating all day but this liner stayed with me through it all. I am not a liner person but this makes wearing eyeliner so much easier.

Wow. So that was all the products that I have purchased recently…Well since the beginning of this year.

I really wish I can say that I will not be purchasing anything but that seems to be a lie so I’m not going to say it 😀

Anyways, thank you so much for reading if you got this far lol.

Definitely let me know if you have tried any of these products as well as your thoughts on it!

23rd Birthday Haul/Presents

This post is wayy overdue since my birthday was actually in June LOL.

Also the cake in the picture with the 3 candle was actually my bday cake. Our house only had a 3 candle so my mom said since I was turning 23 it was ok. haha -.-

I wanted to post this sooner but I was pretty busy with secondary applications for medical school and so I hadn’t had the time to sit and post. I know, I know, such lame excuses…but anyways I am so excited to finally post this so let’s get started!

The first item was actually gifted to me by my ex-roommate, Joanne (tanks buddy). I have always been eyeing this blush from MAC ever since Sunny from Sunny Channel used it in one of her videos.

This is MAC Powder Blush in Coppertone. It is a warm peachy brown that is perfect for those lazy day where you don’t want to put on both bronzer and blush. It warms up the face instantly with a warm peachy look. I freaking love this blush. It blends really well and can be built up without looking streaky. I highly recommend this color as well. It just adds that warm bronzy look to the cheeks. I haven’t used this blush a lot but it is definitely one of my top 5 out of my collection.

And with this blush came a mini MAC Prep + Prime Natural Radiance sample product. I actually took this little tube with me to Canada and it started to break me out. It went on like a thick sillicony cream and I don’t know if it really held down my makeup but I noticed my skin starting having more texture after I used this. I probably will not purchase this.

The next items are from Glossier. I have always wanted to try out products from Glossier and my OG buddy Jennifer (tytytyty) gave me a gift card from Glossier so I went all out haha. I was always intrigued by their concept and packaging. Especially their packaging.

Look how adorable! They even came with stickers!!

I didn’t get everything on their website but I got some of their best sellers and the ones that I have been most curious about. So here they are:

I got their Stretch Concealer in Light.

The product is in this little glass container with a shiny top with the famous “G” logo on top. It is called a Stretch Concealer because it is supposed to be adaptable to the movement of the face. It is a light coverage concealer and is quite hydrating. At first I wasn’t sure how long it would last on my oily skin but surprisingly, if I set it with a powder, it lasted all day. Now the coverage is no where close to tarte Shape Tape but it is the ideal concealer for those no-makeup makeup looks.

It blends pretty well and is buildable. I think you could keep building it up to a medium coverage but I just like the light coverage it gives me. It evens out my skin tone and makes my bare face looking slightly more put together.

The color is also a perfect match for me. I was worried that it might be too light but since it is a very light coverage concealer, the color doesn’t really matter that much. I am not sure about darker skin tones though. I think I will definitely pick this up again when I run out because I have been loving how quick and easy my daily makeup routine has been with this concealer.

Next is the Boy Brow in Black.

This product is now my holy grail brow product. This product is amazing! It had a lot of mixed reviews and so I was pretty nervous to try it. Some people loved it and said it established the perfect natural full bushy look while some people said that it didn’t even show up.

For me, it did establish that natural full bushy look perfectly. The bristle is very small and so it is very easy to comb through the brows. It doesn’t make my brows look completely filled out but it sort of coats the brow hairs to make them look plum and voluminous. It also stays all day even through the scorching hot Houston weather! I really REALLY like this product. But I think this product really depends on which type of brow look and brow hairs you have. If you have really fine brow hairs like me this will coat them and make them look thicker than they usually are which will then assist in making your brows look more full. But if you do not have a lot of hairs to begin with, I don’t think this product is for you. If you already have thick brow hairs but needs something to just hold them into shape, this product will also do the job.

Overall, I definitely will have to purchase this product because it is so good. I just wish it wasn’t so expensive though.

The next is the Cloud Paint in Beam.

This is the Glossier’s liquid blush. I have always wanted to try this product ever since I saw Glossier’s ad on Instagram. The packaging is so adorable. It really looks like one of those paint tubes!

Although I wanted to get all four colors, I knew that I should just get one to try out the formula and then get more if I liked them. I was debating on either getting Dusk or Beam. Dusk is more of the nudey blush and Beam is a coral blush. So naturally, I just went for Beam and honestly, I don’t regret getting Beam.

The color is right up my alley with a hit of orange in the coral. A little bit goes a long way with this product and it is quite blendable. I have no problem applying to my foundation-less face and sometimes I even skip concealer and just apply this barefaced. It blends really well with the fingers and is buildable. I think it will take me years to use this product up and though I love using this product, I think I like using powder blushes more. I do like the subtle flush look that this blush gives me, but I love having that BAM Blush! look more.

I don’t think I will purchase this product again but it is nice to have and I use it more as a pre-blush. Like I will use this all over my cheeks and then apply powder blush on top to make that a bit more BAM BLUSH!

Next thing I got was their Haloscope in Quartz.

This product is their highlighting stick. I don’t know how I feel about this product. I usually like my highlighters more beamy and impactful but this gives a really really subtle natural glow. I mean the brand’s concept is to enhance the natural beauty so I understand that this fits what they are claiming. It is a bit tacky when you apply it to the face and so I lay this product down and then go on top with a powder highlight.

When I am in a hurry and need to go outside really quickly, I usually go barefaced with no makeup because ain’t nobody got the time. But if I do have like 5 minutes to do my makeup, the only makeup products I use are brow, blush, highlight, and lip. And so this product is what I grab the most because it is so easy to apply on the go. I just swipe it across my cheekbones and blend out with my fingers.

It has the highlighting rose gold part on the outer ring and the inner ring has this balm type thing that reminds me of vaseline. The color Quartz is very nice for my skin tone but honestly, I can’t really tell if the color shows up on my face.

I don’t think I will repurchase this again to be honest.

The last product that I got from Glossier is their Generation G lipstick in Jam.

This lipstick has such an interesting formula. It is said to be a sheer matte lipstick and the name is not wrong. It is sheer. And it is matte. It kind of feels like the NYX Soft Lip Creams but in a lipstick form. It is not as drying as the NYX ones, and it actually goes on like a lip balm. But it feels velvety and very light. I did notice that it does get pretty crusty looking if your lips are chapped but I mean once I exfoliated it was ok.

I got the color in Jam which is a pinky berry shade because I have been on the hunt for that Song Jihyo lip color. This color I think is close but not quite. I am still on the hunt for that color LOL.

This lipstick also has a specific scent. It smells sweet but also like something else that I cannot make out. Not coconuty but some nutty scent. I don’t know, I’m bad at describing scent. It does go away after you apply it but it is quite strong in my opinion.

Would I purchase this product again? Probably not, I mean the formula is nice and the color is great but I have way too many lipsticks for the average person so…

The next few items are my birthday presents from myself to me. Hee Hee

I have always wanted a Jo Malone colonge! They look so luxurious and I have never had a fancy brand name perfume so I decided to treat myself. I honestly just wanted to look and smell all the scents when I went to Macy’s but the salesperson convinced me to buy it and I did. LOL

After trying and smelling all the fragrances at the store, I picked up the Tropical Cherimoya. This scent is me in a bottle. It has every scent that I like and that I would include if I had to make a perfume to represent myself. The top note is bergamot, that gives this a citrus and fresh scent. The heart note is of course the cherimoya, which is delicious by the way. I’ve tried it when I went on a Peru mission trip. It is quite milky and the texture is similar to ripe mangos and it is very sweet. This note makes the perfume sweet which I love! And the base note is copahu resin, which gives it a warm woody scent.

It honestly has been the only one I have been using since I got it. If I run out I am definitely repurchasing because honestly, it is my signature scent. Although I think I should use the other two perfumes I have before repurchasing. I have been using the Body Shop White Musk, also known as the Goblin or 도깨비 perfume from the drama with Gong Yoo and the Body Shop Honeymania. Yeah…I should use those two up before I repurchase. But I am definitely repurchasing. I hope this stays as part of their permanent collection.

I also purchased some stuff from Sephora and also got the Birthday reward.

I had bought a curl cream from Briogeo before and I didn’t realize there was another product in the same line. This is the Briogeo Curl Charisma frizz control gel. It is a gel that goes on after the leave in cream and it coats the curls to maintain them from being frizzy. It doesn’t make them crunchy though, its the strangest thing. I really like it but I don’t really like the scent of it. It smells kinda like glue which kind of throws me off.

I also wanted to try the Briogeo Don’t Despair Repair Deep Conditioning Mask so I got it in the mini travel size. This was good for four times and then I ran out. I mean my hair is pretty long so I did need a lot. I really liked it. I loved how it smells, very delicious and summery. I am thinking of repurchasing it but the full size because I loved how it made my hair really soft. And since I ran out of conditioner…Idk it is pretty expensive…I’m still debating…

I also got a Clinique Cheek Pop in Melon Pop.

I have been obsessed with the cheek pops from Cliniques. I have always wanted to try one and ever since I got Ginger pop (from the Recent Haul 2018 post I have yet to post sorry lol) I have been wanting more of these. I want to collect them all honestly, they’re so cute and adorable. I have not actually used this on my face it because I want to just look at it for a while. LOL I have a problem. The color is right up my alley, coral with a hint of orange. It is so beautiful…

Anyways, this is also the color that actress Min Hyorin (aka Taeyang’s wife) picked as her color to advertise. She is the face of Clinique in Korea and honestly I think she’s perfect for that clean, pure, and innocent Clinique concept.

The next thing is the mini sample kit that I got as one of those VIB perks.

This is the Amore Pacific Sample kit that contains a little glass vial of their toner, brightening oil, and their famous the essential cream fluid.

I was going to take these to travel to Canada but the toner and the oil came in a glass container and I was afraid it might break. So I just took the essential cream fluid and honestly, it was okay. I didn’t notice anything drastic, it was just a nice moisturizer for my face.

And the last item is the Birthday reward from Sephora. I chose the Bite Beauty Set.

This set comes with a mini lipstick and a mini lip crayon as well as a sample of the lip mask and the scrub. I haven’t used any of them on my lips because honestly, these colors aren’t my type of colors. They lean more mauve and which I don’t wear at all…

I should have just gotten the glam glow kit lol I don’t know what I was thinking. I mean who knows, maybe I will wear it one day. Eh..

Last but not least here are some swatches of the products that were mentioned.

So that was all the products that I got for my birthday.

Next post should be the Recent Haul 2018 post and that might take a while because I have accumulated quite a lot of products this year so far T.T

RIP bank account

Anyways, thank you so much for reading if you got this far..

Let me know if you have tried any of these products and your thoughts on them! I’d love to know!

Monthly Makeup Commitment: July 2018

Hello! Happy July!! I cannot believe that it is already mid-July! Time flies so fast!

I usually post my Monthly Makeup Commitment posts in the beginning of the month but I was actually out of town vacationing with my family. We went to Niagara Falls in Canada and it was so beautiful!! It is just one of those sights that you HAVE to see for yourself in person. No picture and no video will honestly be able to do it justice.

Anyways, the reason why I do these Monthly Makeup Commitment posts is because I have way to much makeup for the average person and really want to use up all of my makeup items before I purchase more. So these posts are mostly to keep me in check and only use these specific products for the month and refrain from buying any more makeup. Although I have broken this many times, it still allows me to really use the products and form my opinion on them.

So as per usual, I will start in the order of how I apply them to me face.

First is primer. I actually got this product when Sephora was having that buy one get one travel size free deal. This is the Becca First Light Priming Filter. I got the full size product for my mom because she was looking for a primer and got this travel size for myself. This product is very watery and goes on like a light moisturizer. The color of this product is actually really beautiful. It comes out lavender-y purple with small shimmers but once applied to the face, the color disappears and I see nothing.

I don’t actually notice this product doing much for my foundation. It also does not give much of a glow on my face either. Honestly, I just put it on because I love how this smells. It has a vanilla/lavender/delicious scent that I’m not sure how to describe exactly. But it smells ssssooooo nice. And because it goes on the face like a light moisturizer, I use this product instead of my moisturizer in the morning. I don’t think I will repurchase this product when it runs out just because it really didn’t do much for me.

Because the Becca primer doesn’t really prime my face, I will be using the Touch in Sol No Poreblem Primer. I use the smallest amount and apply it around my nose and chin area where I get the most oily. This product goes on so smoothly and evens out the texture on my face. I really like this product because although it has that silicone-y texture, it does not ball up on my face like the Smashbox primer.

Because I use only a small amount of this product, I have a feeling this product will take me a while to finish. But so far so good with this product.

I usually do not wear foundation except for on Sundays for church since I feel guilty for having it haha.

I will be mixing these two products: Peripera Ink Blurring Skin Tint in #4 Peach Tone up and Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation + Concealer in #01 Linen. I have gotten a lot paler since I graduated college (because I was working in an office with no windows) and so the Clinique foundation in the #01 shade is a bit dark for me so I add the skin tint to lighten it.

I wanted to try the skin tint from Peripera and purposely got the tone up color to see if it would actually brighten up my complexion. But because I was so pale, it was just the color of my face. GG

When I just applied the Peripera skin tint on my face it kinda started to break me out. I was so disappointed because when I had put it on, it went on so velvety smooth. It made my face feel like I have already set my face with powder. It was not sticky and really just sort of melted into the skin. But when I mixed it with the Clinique foundation, it didn’t break me out. Strange…idk if the Clinique foundation has some magical power that defends my face from the harsh chemicals or what but yeah…this combo works amazingly together. The skin tint lightens the color of the foundation and is a really good match for my face. The texture of the Clinique foundation is a pretty satin velvety finish as well and so they work well to make my face matte and smooth.

When I am not wearing foundation, which is everyday except on Sunday, I will be using this Glossier Stretch Concealer in Light. It got this product as part of my Birthday Haul which is coming up soon I promise. I am going to write my review on this product on that post so stay tuned!

Next is powder. So for those of you who read my latest post Recent Empties 2018, you know that I have finally used up my EGLIPS powder.

There were a few powders on my list that I wanted to try and one of them was the Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in Translucent. This product has been everyone’s favorite at the drugstore. It is super affordable and really holds up to its claim. Stay matte. Yah. It stays matte.

I have been debating on either getting this or the Make Up For Ever HD Microfinishing Pressed Powder but decided to try this instead since it is soooo much cheaper. And again, I will write my review on the upcoming Recent Haul post that is also scheduled to come soon. Heehee.

Moving onto the eyes!

For my eyebrows I will be using another item that will soon be reviewed on the Birthday Haul post: Glossier Boy Brow in Black. Heh..I have a lot of work to do..

And then for eyeshadow, I will be using Colourpop Super Shock Shadow in Wattles. This is a gorgeous pinky brown shade with tiny silver shimmers. The silver shimmer does not show up that much once applied onto the eyes. This color is honestly the easiest color to use on the eyes. I just apply this with my ring finger to my lid and blend it out with my pinky.

It has a creamy texture but once applied, it feels like powder. I have used this product for a while and though I love the color, I don’t think I will repurchase it again, maybe in the very very far future. I do really like this product but I just have so many eyeshadows that I need to use. But it is such a universal color and great for just an everyday quick and effortless makeup look. I highly recommend that you check this one out if you are looking to shop at Colourpop.

Next is another product from Colourpop. This is their Creme Gel Liner in Mr. Bing. This is the only eyeliner I have at the moment and honestly one of my holy grail eyeliner. This color was in collaboration with one of my favorite youtuber, Kathleenlights. I was so excited when she released this collab because I have been looking for an affordable brown eyeliner for so long. When she released it, I got it right away and have been using it ever since.

I actually got this shade and another shimmery shade but the shimmery shade hardened rather quickly. But this shade remained quite creamy…weird. This is a gorgeous warm brown shade that is flattering in almost every warm neutral eye looks (which is basically all I do). It applies so smoothly and gently on my eyes and when I tightline with this product, it does not transfer. I do have pretty watery and oily eyes and so I do notice it disappears after a while but I don’t really mind. It is easy to reapply if I need to but I mean I don’t really wear makeup for too long anyways so it’s really ok.

When I do run out of this product, I will be repurchasing it again. It is really an amazing product, I highly recommend this one.

Next up, mascara. No surprise here. I will be using the Etude House Dr. Mascara Fixer and tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes Mascara. I have to use the Dr. Mascara fixer when using this tarte mascara because the mascara is not waterproof. My stubborn straight Asian lashes do not stay curled up when a non-waterproof mascara is applied and so the mascara fixer is a must.

I really do like the tarte mascara, like I mentioned before in a past post. It really separates my lashes really well and gives them plenty of volume. I am seriously considering on getting the full size but in the waterproof formula.

Next is Bronzer!

I will be using the too cool for school’s Art Class by Rodin bronzer. This is a Korean brand that is famous for this neutral bronzer/shading/contour product for East Asian skin tones. There are three shades in the pan. It has a very neutral tone in the middle, a bit grayish almost and then a warm slightly deeper shade as well as a brighter lighter shade.

To contour my face I use the two darkest shade and to contour my nose I use the middle shade and the lightest shade. Out of all the bronzers/contour powders I have used, this product honestly fits my skin tone and skin color the best. Even when I am super pale I can use this and even when I am pretty tanned I can use this. This product is so versatile, I love it.

I highly recommend this product if you are looking for an easy bronzer/contour product to work with. It is pigmented but blends so well that it is quite easy to use.

Next up is my favorite makeup category ever: blush!

I will be using two blushes this month. The first is the Glossier Cloud Paint in Beam. This product will also be mentioned in more detail in the Birthday Haul post 😀

Glossier Cloud Paint in Beam

Another product that I will be using is the Colourpop Knockout Palette. This palette was actually a gift from my ex-roommate when we were still roommates (tanks buddy). This is the only powder products I own from Colourpop and I have to say, I really am impressed.

This corally orange blush is 100% up my alley and I love how pigmented yet how blendable the product is. I love wearing blush that packs a punch and this product allows me to build up but also apply soft whenever I feel the need to dial it down a notch.

The blush is on the right side and the product on the left is a highlighter. It is also the highlighter that I will be using this month. It is an orange-gold highlighter that is perfect for the summer. I have not played around much with the highlighter because I was too pale for it but hopefully I get a bit more tan during this summer.

Another highlighter that I will be using is another Glossier product. Haha. So many Glossier. And again, it will be mentioned in greater detail at the Birthday Haul post (maybe I should have posted that before this one :/ ) This is the Glossier Haloscope in Quartz.

Glossier Haloscope in Quartz

Last but certainly not least are the lip products for this month.

I will be using three products. Two bright orange shades and one nude shade.

The first is the Colorgram Thunderbolt Lip Lacquer in #4. I do have a review on the Colorgram Tints here. Go check it out 😀

Colorgram Thunderbolt Lip Lacquer in #4

I really love this product. It goes on very easily and also is very long lasting. I do find myself reapplying after I eat oily foods but I mean, I don’t mind because it is so comfortable on the lips. It goes on like a watery tint but has a slight gel-like texture. It doesn’t give me that butthole yogurt effect, at least not this shade.

This shade is a bright orange, almost neon shade that is perfect for summer. I love wearing oranges and hot pinks during the summer time.

The next lip product is a bit darker than the Colorgram tint #4. It is the MAC Lipstick in Barbeque. I got this shade as a free gift when MAC was having some kind of promotion. This is a hot red-orange shade that is also really nice for the summer time. I will usually just dab this onto the center of my lips after I apply the Colorgram tint to give sort of that gradient effect.

MAC Barbeque

This is a matte finish and is quite long lasting as well. I love wearing it on its own but with the tint, I get an even longer application so I love pairing the two.

The other lip product that I will be wearing, mostly on Sundays is the NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in London. This is one of the colors that I got from the NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams Haul. It is a very nice neutral nude shade that is perfect for the casual make up look. It also pairs beautifully with the Colourpop Wattles shade.

NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in London

I also love the texture of this product. It honestly does not feel like I’m wearing anything on my lips. It has a velvety texture and a very light consistency.

Everytime I bust this color out, I sing the “London Tipton song” lol. You know, the one from Suite Life of Zack and Cody. “London Tipton’s really great! Really great! Really great! London Tipton’s really great! She deserves the opposite of hate! Which is LOVE!” LOL sorry.

Here are the products swatched in natural lighting:

Glossier Beam + Colourpop Knockout Palette in Natural Lighting
The three lip products mentioned in Natural Lighting

Anyways, that concludes the July 2018 Monthly Makeup Commitment post!

Thank you guys for reading if you made it this far and also let me know if you have tried any of these products. If you like/dislike them and why. Love to hear your thoughts.

And I will post the Birthday Haul and Recent Haul posts soon.

Recent Empties 2018

Hello! Long time no post!!

Now that I am officially unemployed, (WOOP WOOP) I have more time to post on my blog now!

It’s been a hard and very busy year so far and I have used up a lot of products. So lets begin!!

Sorry for the quality of this first picture..heehee I took this picture in my office while I was working so the lighting was terrible. But anyways, the first item that I used up this year was this Crabtree & Evelyn Hand Cream in Avocado Olive & Basil scent.

@letsgoctina Crabtree & Evelyn Avocado Olive & Basil Hand Cream
Crabtree & Evelyn Avocado Olive & Basil Hand Cream

The soap in our building bathroom literally stripped all the moisture and oil from the hand and so every time I washed my hand, my hands felt so tight and dry to the point where it would hurt. And so I had this hand cream in my pencil bag and it literally saved my hands. It was very moisturizing and absorbed into the skin pretty fast for a thick cream. The smell was a bit strong but not as strong as Bath and Body works lotion. It smelled clean and I really liked it. I got it as a gift a long time ago and though I would not spend the money to purchase it for myself, I think it would make a great gift to give to someone.

The next product that I used up is mascara. This is probably my favorite mascara from the drugstore. It is a bit more pricier than the other mascaras but I think it is really worth it. It is the L’Oreal Voluminous Lash Paradise in Waterproof. It does give my lashes volume and also makes them seem longer than they really are. It lasts all day and most importantly, keeps my lashes curled all day long!

L’Oreal Voluminous Lash Paradise Mascara Waterproof

The only bad thing about this mascara is that the brush head is a bit big for my eye shape. I do have small eyes and if I’m not careful, I will either poke my eye or get some mascara onto my eyelids. But it is slightly smaller than the too faced born this way mascara and so I actually like this one better than that one. Also, even though this is a waterproof mascara, it does transfer a bit to the areas under my lower lash line. But this is inevitable for me since I do have very oily face and eyes. All waterproof mascaras give me this effect. Is there a waterproof mascara for oily skin that do not transfer onto the lower eye area? If so, please let me know. I need it.

This next product is one of my holy grail items. It is the Elta MD Skincare UV Clear Broad-Spectrum SPF 46 Facial Sunscreen. Every drugstore sunscreen I have tried have broken my face out and have clogged my pores. I was so frustrated because I knew how crucial and important wearing sunscreen was. I have oily and acne prone skin during the summer times and living in Texas under the blazing summer sun, I desperately needed sunscreen. Then Liah Yoo, a skincare guru on YouTube did her favorite sunscreen video for oily skin. One of the product she recommended was this Elta MD product.

Elta MD Skincare UV Clear Broad-Spectrum SPF 46 Facial Sunscreen

In her video, she said that this was one of the products that dermatologists recommended to oily, acne prone skin. This product has Niacinamide and Zinc Oxide, two common chemicals that treats acne as well as prevents future acne breakouts. I was hesitant at first because this sunscreen is around $32 for 1.7 oz. It is pretty pricey but I am so glad I made this purchase. I freaking love this sunscreen. In my opinion, it is so worth every penny.

It goes on like a lotion and really absorbs into the skin. It just feels like I am wearing a moisturizer and it also does not have that typical SPF sunscreen scent. And most importantly, IT DOES NOT BREAK ME OUT. The Niacinamide and Zinc Oxide was said to prevent any future breakouts and I have noticed that my skin broke out less. I mean I still got those huge pimples during that time of the month but other than that, my skin has been behaving so nicely since I have used this. And because it is quite moisturizing, during the summer, I just skip my moisturizer and go straight to this product. Surprisingly, it also lasted quite a while since I got this product around July of 2017. I finished using it up around March of 2018 so yeah it did last almost 8 months for one bottle.

As soon as I ran out of this product, I immediately repurchased it. I get mine from Amazon and I cannot recommend this product enough. If you have oily and acne prone skin and are wanting to invest in a good sunscreen, I highly recommend this one!

This next product is quite unfortunately made its way into the trash. This is the Colourpop Super Shock Cheek in the shade Get Leid. I have used this product a lot while I was working at the clinic because it was so easy to apply while commuting. I would do my makeup in the car and I have swiped this product with a very dense brush onto my cheeks. When I am in a hurry, I usually only put on blush, mascara, and lip so this product was used everyday for 10 weeks.

This poor guy however started to crumble off. At first I was confused and tried to press it into the pan since the product texture is malleable and quite spongey/creamy like.

Colourpop Super Shock Cheek in Get Leid

But I guess this product was getting old or something…When I tried to press it into the pan, it started to crumble and eventually hardened to a crumbly powder. It felt kind of like those crumbling pieces of dried play-do, if you know what I mean…

Even though the pigment was still being transferred onto my fingers, I just decided to toss it cuz frankly, it grossed me out. RIP blush. May you rest in peace…in my trash.

Would I purchase this blush again? No probably not. I think Colourpop makes great products but personally I much prefer my blush to be either just powder or just cream. Not something in between.

The next product is something that is not unfamiliar in my empties post. This is the Garnier Skin Active Micellar Cleansing Water with the blue cap that removes waterproof makeup as well. I really like this. This is my second bottle I believe and it just removes my makeup so easily.

Garnier Skin Active Micellar Cleansing Water

It does have an oily layer to remove the waterproof makeup but it does not leave an oily residue like the Neutrogena makeup removers. This bottle also lasts a while as well and so I recommend this one over the Neutrogena.

The next product is Kirkland Daily Facial Towelettes. This product was actually from Costco, it came in a huge bulk box and my mom bought it to try and she also gave me a pack. This was…alright.. like ehhh. It didn’t really remove all of my makeup and it did kind of stink my face so I usually just used it to remove my lip colors or to just wipe down my phone because phones are dirty af.

Kirkland Daily Facial Wipes

I wouldn’t recommend this for sensitive skin types because it does sting. And also it is not as wet as other wipes like the Simple or Neutrogena ones from the drugstore so I think that was why it didn’t really remove my makeup. But its the perfect amount of wetness to wipe down your phone. hehe

I will not purchase this again but will use it to wipe down my phone and hands if my mom buys the box again from Costco. But my mom didn’t like it as well so…

This next product was actually in one of the product in my Korean Skincare + Sephora + MAC Cosmetic Haul. It is the Son & Park Beauty Water.

I believe this is the best seller from Son & Park. I have mixed feelings about this though. Many like it because it is so versatile to use. Some people use it as a makeup remover, toner, or just a very thin moisturizer. For me, I used it as a toner because it did not remove my makeup, it also did not keep my face moisturized.

Son & Park Beauty Water

It does not have any harsh chemicals and so did not strip my face or make my face feel super tight but when the product was absorbed into my skin, it did leave my face a little bit tight. I didn’t feel like this product was worth the high price tag. It honestly gave me the same effect as the Thayer’s Witch Hazel toner which is like half its price and for this I was disappointed. It wasn’t a bad product but it wasn’t the best toner I have used. I would rather spend the extra few dollars and buy the Missha Time Revolution essence than this one.

Also what I didn’t like about this product was the big gaping hole in which the product comes out from. The whole was pretty big and so when I tried to get it on the palm of my hand, it literally poured all over my vanity. A cotton pad was a must with this product and I don’t really like using cotton pads with my toner because I hate the feeling of cotton pads scraping against my face. So I would rather buy the Thayer’s Witch Haze which has a much smaller hole so that I don’t waste any product.

I think that is one of the reason why I used this product up so fast. It was hard to control the amount of product that came out.

The next product that I used up is the Origins Planscription Eye Cream. My mom gave me this eye cream a long time ago and I have finally finished it. This was quite a thick eye cream and so you only needed a tiny amount. I loved how it had a pump instead of being it in a jar. It was really easy to control the amount of product with the pump and so I really did enjoy using it.

I liked using this product during the winter times when I did have dry patches on my face. During the summer I only used it at nighttime and just the tiniest amount around my eyes. It didn’t sting or broke me out or gave me more millia. I don’t think I would purchase it again though. It is quite esspenssive…lols

The next product that I have used up is the Almay Shadow Softies in Peach Fuzz. This was an eyeshadow that I got probably at the CVS near my college during freshman year. This was a bright peachy shade that was stunning to use as blush and eyeshadow. I mainly used it as blush and I loved how coraly and peachy it looked. This product had a unique texture. It went on like powder but it had a slight jelly like texture in the pan. It wasn’t as soft as the Colourpop products and in my opinion, this product was much easier to use than the Colourpop products.

I had hit pan on this product a while ago and have since then used it so much, pieces of the product started falling off. And eventually I used all the product that was left.

I probably would not purchase this product again since I have so many eyeshadows and blushes. The color was really pretty though.

The next product that I have used up is the Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing lotion +. This was a moisturizer that is very gentle to sensitive skin types. I had mentioned this in my Mini Haul a while back. I really liked using this product.

Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing lotion +

Like I mentioned in that post, it does have a plastic scent to it but it goes away once blended onto the skin. I loved how you could control the pump and the texture of the lotion was really nice. It wasn’t a thick cream but wasn’t completely watery. It left my face feeling moisturized but not too stuffy like a heavy cream. It was just the right consistency for my oily skin and it also hydrated those dry patches during the winter time as well. It also did not break me out so <3<3<3

I would purchase this product again but I am using another product at the moment..

The next item is the famous tarte shape tape concealer in the shade light neutral. This is probably the most raved concealer in the U.S. And for good reason. This is a full coverage concealer that does not crease, is easy to blend, and lasts all day.

Whenever I did not want to use foundation, I would just use this product under my eyes, acne spots, and just dotted the product around my face and used a wet sponge to blend it out.

It had a semi-matte texture and was really great for oily skin like me.

I have had this product for more than a year and I thought I should get rid of it lol. I mean I have used it all I think since not a lot would come out and when I swirled the applicator wand I could see that the bottle was being wiped. Like you could see that the bottle is actually a clear case as I was swirling and scraping the product off the bottle.

It had a good run, this shape tape. Will I purchase this again? Yes. But right now I am going through that natural no make up makeup look so I have been looking for a very light coverage concealer. But I mean I will probably purchase this concealer again in the near future.

Last but not least, I have finally used up the EGLIPS Blur Pact Powder in No. 23. This powder has been with me ever since I started this blog I believe. And I have to admit that this product fell apart even before I finished using it. I had hit pan on it a while ago and was using the products that were left on the outer ring of the pan. But one day, I noticed that a section of the pact was lifted out of its case. I gently pressed it down and then…all hell broke loose.

The pact shattered and the next thing you know, my vanity was attacked with powder. I tried dusting it off but eventually had to wipe it all down with a wet paper towel. The pan was all dusty and powdery and I just decided to dump it all in to the trash. I mean I think I used this powder for almost two years now…I guess its time to let go.

RIP EGLIPS Blur Pact Powder. You did good…you did good. This was truly a nice powder. It mattified my face quite instantly and although I didn’t really notice the blurring effect, it did leave my face feeling velvety and smooth.

I have purchased a different powder to use that was on my list for a while. There are so many nice powders out in the market and so I probably will not be purchasing this product again. But I did really enjoy using it.

So anyways! Finally I got to sit down and post on my blog. I missed posting on here just to talk about makeup and such.

Also I have started daily vlogging but this time I am 100% committed to vlogging everyday. Even though I won’t be doing much every single day, I still want to use vlogging as an excuse to not be a lazy bum. So yeah…

Please check out my vlogs and subscribe. I am thinking of doing like a beauty related vlog as well I don’t know yet. Maybe like lipstick swatches or whatnot.

Anyways, thanks for reading if you have gotten this far and I will write again soon!

Also, let me know if you have used any of the products I have mentioned and if you liked them/disliked them. 😀 Look forward to reading your opinions!
